DLR Prerna’s active involvement in the Fairtrade movement in tea gardens and small farmer collectives is a strategic choice of contributing to sustainable development models with a specific focus on equity. This contribution is being made at the local with communities and international level. A move is being initiated to connect producers with consumers.
Continual capacity enhancement programme Joint Body Reprenentatives of Tea Promoters (India) Gardens and Small Farmers Collective Partners is being undertaken.
Participanting Gardens and Small Farmer Collectives are:
Seeyok; Selimbong; Singell; Puttharjhora; Samabeong; Banaspaty - Tea Gardens
Puttong Tea Workers Welfare Committee; Subarna Small Farmers Tea Society; Mineral Spring Sanjukta Vikash Sanstha - Small Farmers Collectives’ Partners
Develop capacity and skills for participatory planning and action of Joint Body Representatives and Small Farmers Representatives of the TPI Group of Tea Gardens.
TPI and DLR Prerna have a long term MOU for capacity enhancement of Joint Body Representatives and Small Farmers Representatives with focus on Fairtrade Standards of Hired Labour and Small Farmers. Regular Programmes conducted between 2007 to 2011.
